PBXVI Just Keeps Getting Stranger And Stranger And Stranger

Pope Benedict XVI is turning out to be a real hoot. The more I learn about him, the more truth I see in my assertion, that, basically, all religions are the same... like the products of different GM divisions... Sure, they've got different names, but most of the parts are basically interchangeable. Still, to this day, you can probably find, without looking too hard, two people who will go to blows over whether the Camaro or the Firebird was the superior muscle car.

I stumbled upon an interesting detail in the Wikipedia article on PBXVI that discusses his position on The DaVinci Code. It is (in a watered-down way) reminiscent of the Muslim reaction to The Satanic Verses.

So how long do you think it'll be before ol' Benny issues his own fatwa calling for the head of Dan Brown on a pike? Anybody see a 30 Years war on the horizon?

You've basically got 4 fundamentalist (Protestant Christians in the USA, Catholics... well... so far PBXVI, Muslims in the Middle East and elsewhere (other than Israel), and Jews (mostly in Israel)) groups all pointing to the same book as the foundation for their beliefs, all lining up (some more quietly than others) to wipe out the other 3.

With the proper degree of detachment, it's actually kinda funny. I only wish I could observe this whole mess from a safe distance. Mars, for example. I suspect the nuclear fireballs will be visible from Mars.
