Irrelevant Pope Points to Irrelevance of Other Churches

I thought Joseph Ratzinger was a "interesting" choice for Pope, but this is... uh... something.

I mean... Apart from the fanatical third-world Catholics... does anyone take the Vatican seriously... I mean ... SERIOUSLY-seriously?

PJP2 seemed to embody the state of Catholicism in his later years... slumping, drooling... kind of out of it... muttering... meaning well, I guess... but definitely not all-there. Then Ratzinger shows up and proclaims the Latin Mass to be alive and well... Now if the sexual abuse scandals weren't driving them away fast enough... Ramming dead languages down peoples' throats just might do the trick...

Maybe it's because I was clever enough, when I was 8, to figure out that the best thing to give up for Lent was Catholicism... Maybe it's because rationality long ago pushed superstition out of my brain... I just don't see the Pope as anything more than... some dude in a hospital gown who's managed to trick a bunch of folks in to thinking he's the infallible human ambassador of the disembodied soul of the supposed son of a spooky, capricious, self-aggrandizing, angry, irrational god whose existence is yet to be persuasively demonstrated.

*sigh*... I'm too sleepy go on laboring this point.

Bottom line: PBXVI just might restore the Catholic Church to its former glory
